US chain drops 'terror scarf' ad

The US chain Dunkin' Donuts has pulled an advert following complaints that the scarf worn by a celebrity chef offered symbolic support for Islamic extremism.

The online advert for iced coffee featured the well-known US television chef Rachael Ray.

Reliance enters MTN takeover fray

India's Reliance Communications is now in talks with South African mobile phone firm MTN about a deal just hours after rival Bharti Airtel pulled out.

Bharti broke off talks with MTN after the two companies failed to agree on the structure of the combined entity.

A tie-up would have created the world's sixth-largest mobile phone operator with more than 130 million subscribers.

Surfing in paradise

The first thing that hits me is the colour of the water. It looks surreal, as if someone has filled the ocean with dazzling aquamarine jewels.

The archipelago of the Maldives is southwest of India in the Indian Ocean and comprises almost 2000 islands and atolls. But my destination is a 30m motorboat called Haveyli, where I'll join a so-called surfari around North Male Atoll.
