Sri Lanka joins hands with Maldives to promote tourism

Sri Lanka has teamed up with the neighbouring island paradise of the Maldives to woo tourists from China, Russia and the Middle East, officials said Tuesday.

The Maldives, South Asia's most exotic holiday destination, hopes the joint effort will help convince well-heeled tourists to stop in Sri Lanka and then visit the Indian Ocean atoll nation.

Mauritius Sun Resorts H1 pretax profit up 159 pct

PORT LOUIS (Reuters) - Mauritius's Sun Resorts pre-tax profit jumped 159 percent to 308.1 million Mauritius rupees for the first half of 2007 from 118.8 million for the same period previously, the firm said.

Its post-tax profit including exceptional items more than tripled to 633 million Mauritius rupees from 196 million rupees, the announcement, seen by Reuters on Tuesday, said.

Dubai Civil Aviation Authority receives delegations from China and Maldives

 

Director General of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), His Excellency Mohammed Ahli, received at his office two separate high profile delegations from China and Maldives recently. 

The delegation from Maldives was led by Ali Hussain Didi, CEO of the Maldives Airports Company. Discussion at the meeting revolved around Maldivian plans to build as many as 10 airports on the archipelago as a strategic move to boost the island nation's tourism.
