Reliance in major Hollywood deal

Indian billionaire Anil Ambani's Reliance Big Entertainment group says it has signed deals with eight Hollywood production houses.

The production houses are associated with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Nicholas Cage. Reliance plans to invest about $1bn (£514m) in 10 films over the next few years to extend its global reach.

Dhiraagu - Dhivehi Raajjeyge Gulhun Pvt Ltd, the leading telecommunications service provider in the Maldives, has entered into a strategic partnership with Microsoft by opting for the Microsoft Enterprise Agreement.

A Microsoft press release said Dhiraagu owns and operates a fully digital communications network reaching every island and tourist resort in the Maldives. Dhiraagu is a major owner of infrastructure in the Maldives and invests heavily in developing and enhancing the telecommunications of the country, delivering world-class communication services to its customers.

Yahoo shares boosted on bid hopes

Shares in Yahoo jumped 7% amid expectation Microsoft is preparing to increase its bid for the company.

Microsoft is reported to be talking to the internet firm about improving the offer it made in February, which was then worth $44.6bn (£22.4bn).
