Dressed in a traditional black waitress' uniform, Minogue was filming a scene outside a five-star hotel in the Welsh town of Swansea when the old lady asked her for a cuppa.
An onlooker told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper the pensioner clearly had no idea who Minogue was.
"It was comical," the onlooker said.
"Kylie may be a big star but this old dear obviously didn't realise.
"Kylie just saw the funny side - she just laughed."
Minogue, 39, is starring as a waitress aboard the Titanic in a special episode of Dr Who.
She needs rescuing by the doctor in the episode of the cult British science-fiction series entitled Voyage of the Damned.
