India-Pakistan in new peace talks

India and Pakistan are due to hold a fresh round of talks to review their peace process.

It comes a day after India's army accused Pakistani troops of firing across the de facto border for the second time in less than a week.

The army said one Indian soldier had been killed during Monday's attack. Pakistan has denied any involvement.

Bangladeshi religious leader held

The leader of Bangladesh's largest religious party has been held in the government's anti-corruption drive.

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Motiur Rahman Nizami, who was in the cabinet of the government led by Khaleda Zia, has denied the charges.

Ms Zia is one of the two former Bangladeshi PMs among more than 100 politicians already detained on various corruption charges.

A court has charged former PM Sheikh Hasina in a separate graft case.

Nizam heirs claim London fortune

A grandson of the last ruler of the Indian princely state of Hyderabad has joined the claims for a share of a fortune frozen in a London bank.

The Nizam of Hyderabad deposited £1m in the bank in 1948. It is now estimated to be worth £30m.

Ex-Tamil Tigers set their eyes on polls

Former Tamil Tiger fighters are hoping to win political power in eastern Sri Lanka in provincial elections this Saturday.

The poll will lay the foundation for limited devolution that the government bills as the answer to ethnic minority Tamil people's decades-long complaints of domination by Sinhalese-led central governments.

Curfew imposed after India blasts

A curfew has been imposed in the old city in Jaipur in western India after a series of bomb blasts killed 63 and left about 200 wounded.

The bombs went off near historic monuments in the crowded old city on Tuesday evening. The head of state police said it was a terrorist attack. Police have detained a number of people for questioning.
